The specific documents you need depend on your visa type. For a student visa, Saudi Arabia typically requires a certified Arabic translation of your passport, academic diplomas and transcripts, language proficiency certificates, and a birth certificate. For a work visa (iqama), you will need translations of your passport, educational qualifications, and professional certificates. Family visa applications require translations of marriage and birth certificates.
For all visa types, any document originally in a foreign language must be accompanied by a certified Arabic translation. This is a hard requirement enforced at both the embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs level. Applications with missing or improperly certified translations are returned without review.
Accepted Arabic Translation Format
Saudi authorities require that translations be produced by a certified translator who attests to the accuracy of the translation. The certification statement must accompany the translation and include the translator's name and qualification. Saudi Arabia does not have a standardised translation seal requirement for most visa categories — a signed certification statement from a qualified translator is sufficient. However, certain professional licensing applications (medical, legal, engineering) require translations to be certified by the Saudi embassy in the applicant's home country, or by a court-certified translator in Saudi Arabia.
